Volleyball Splits Against Saint Anslem and Bentley

Manchester, N.H.- Lynn University's volleyball team notched its tenth win of the season in a 3-0, (25-22, 25-22, 25-21), win over Saint Anslem before falling to Bentley, 30 (25-21, 25-22, 25-21) in non-regional matches on Saturday afternoon.

Elyse Fleck led the Fighting Knights in the opening set against Saint Anslem with four of the team's 12 kills. Tandron had nine assists while Mandy McIntosh had a set-high seven digs en route to the 25-22 win. 

Leading 1-0, the Fighting Knights maintained the momentum from the first set and carried it into the second. Raffa led with five kills and one error for a .286 clip helping the Blue & White to a .295 hitting percentage. Tandron dished out 13 assists and Nikki Haben led the defense with 10 digs in the 25-22 victory. 

Sara Aloisio and Raffa each dished out four kills in the final set while Tandron added 10 more assists. Lynn hit .147 as a team with 13 kills in the 25-21 third set win and Shauna Shortal added a pair of service aces.

Caple led LU with 12 kills and a .281 clip in the win with Tandron tallying 32 assists, surpassing the 350 career assists milestone. 

Looking to extend its win streak to eight, the Fighting Knights exchanged the lead with Bentley seven times in the opening set before the Falcons edged LU 25-21 to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Knight and Raffa led the Blue & White with three kills a piece while Tandron dished out eight assists. 

In the second set, Caple led the Lynn offense with four kills while Knight chipped in three. As a team the Fighting Knights hit .242 with 14 kills while holding the Falcons to a .226 clip. Bentley was able to capitalize on errors by the Blue & White which lifted them to a 25-22 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match. 

Bentley started the third set with a 10-3 run before Lynn was able to get things going. Trailing by five, Lynn went on a 10-5 run to trail 22-19. The rally came too late as the Falcons held off LU for a 25-21 win. 

Tandron recorded a double-double with 32 assists and 14 digs while McIntosh, Haben and Knight all recorded double digit digs. Knight also led Lynn with 12 kills with Caple adding 10 of her own. 

Bentley snapped the Blue & Whites seven game win streak moving the Fighting Knights record to 10-3 on the season. Lynn hosts Florida Southern in its Sunshine State Conference opener on Saturday, September 27, in the de Hoernle Center. First serve is set for 7 pm.
