Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's volleyball team saw defeat for the first time at home in the de Hoernle Center this season with a 3-1 loss to Florida Southern. Nikki Haben had a season-high 28 digs and Marissa Tandron recorded her fourth double-double of 2013 while Sara Aloisio tallied a season-high six blocks. With the loss the Fighting Knights move to 10-4 and 0-1 in the Sunshine Conference.
Florida Southern (8-3, 1-0 SSC) scored the opening three points of the match and did not trail the rest of the set. Despite having more kills than the Mocs, Lynn went trailed 0-1 after a 25-20 opening set loss. Angie Caple had four kills and a block in the first frame while Tandron also provided a block and 13 assists.
Lynn evened the game with a 26-24 triumph in the second set. The Fighting Knights opened on a 6-2 run before finding themselves in a 14-7 hole. A pair of kills from Caple sparked the Fighting Knights on an 11-4 run to tie the set before a kill from Elyse Fleck put Lynn ahead. LU had a game-high five blocks in the equalizer while out-hitting the Mocs for the second straight set with a 13-11 advantage.
Set three began with an early Lynn lead before another back-and-forth set went Florida Sothern's way in 25-22 final with Aloisio having three of her six blocks in the third set. The match ended in the fourth set with Lynn losing, 25-12, to the Mocs.
Caple finished the night with 14 kills on a .312 kill percentage with four blocks. Tandron filled up the stat sheet with 36 assists, 17 digs, four blocks, two service aces and a kill. The Fighting Knights ended the night with 22 blocks assists with Aloisio leading the team.
