Miami Shores, Fla. – Despite several opportunities and a whopping 26-7 shot total, Lynn University's men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Barry on Saturday afternoon. This is the first loss for the Fighting Knights at the Buccaneers' field since 2010. Lynn drops to 3-2-1 overall.
Anthony Desperito tried to put the Blue & White up early, getting an open look just 3:15 into the match, but Johnny Rodrigues mad the first of his 10 saves to keep the sheet clean. Jack Winter followed with an attempt of his own in the 10th minute of play only to be turned away by the Buc's keeper.
Lynn's offensive pressure intensified in the second half with shots by Winter, Yannick Braeuer and Chris Klarner all within the 18-yard box. Unfortunately, Rodrigues made diving saves on each crack to further frustrate the Fighting Knights.
Barry (3-4-1) had only one shot attempt in the first half and two through 70 minutes of play as LU's defensive unit kept every Buccaneer chance at bay. One mistake in BU's side of the field allowed Barry to go on the counter-attack and Patrick Drmola took advantage of the 3-on-2 opportunity to find the back of the net at 70:31.
The Blue & White had plenty of time to score the equalizer but Rodrigues prove the difference in the match with two more stellar saves in traffic.
