St. Petersburg, Fla.- Lynn University's men's basketball team lost to Eckerd (11-8, 4-4 SSC) on the road, 72-55, on Wednesday night. The Fighting Knights were led by Fred Landers who scored a game-high 15 points with five rebounds and three steals. Kaleb Clyburn and Aaron Harrison also scored in double-digits with 14 points and 11 points, respectively. The Blue & White move to 7-11 overall and 1-7 in Sunshine State Conference play.
Eckerd took a 7-0 lead early in the game before Harrison scored a layup to get the Fighting Knights on the board. Lynn trailed by three with 11:50 remaining in the first half, 14-11, before Eckerd would pull ahead by 10, 21-11, with 9:44 to play. At halftime the Tritons led by 17, 41-24.
Lynn went on a 10-0 run over the course of seven minutes cutting the deficit to nine, 50-41, with 8:18 remaining in regulation. The Tritons had their largest lead of the second half, by 18, with just under five minutes to play. A slew of free throws for the victors helped seal their fourth SSC victory of the season.
Lynn shote 31.7 percent from the field while out rebounding the home team 38-32. Eckerd shot an impressive 62.5 percent from the field and 57.1 from three-point range in the first half and 55.8 percent overall in the game. Four Tritons scored in double figures with Malcolm Brunner Jr. having 13 points and four blocks.
