BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University's men's basketball team fell to Nova Southeastern, 62-57, on Wednesday night. The Fighting Knights (6-6) were led by Aaron Harrison who had 20 points and 14 rebounds while stealing the ball three times. The Fighting Knights fall to 0-2 in Sunshine State Conference play while the Sharks (4-9, 1-2 SSC) pick up their first conference win of the season.
Lynn took the lead early in the game and held the advantage until the final minutes of the first half. The Blue & White took its largest lead of nine with 10:55 remaining in the opening frame. Nova Southeastern finished the half strong heading into the locker rooms with a nine point advantage over Lynn, 29-20.
Landers led the Fighting Knights with nine points in the first half while the team shot 36.4 percent from the field. NSU capitalized on 14 turnovers by the Blue & White and shot 39.3 percent from the field. However, Lynn pulled down 19 rebounds while the Sharks grabbed just 14 and Chris Page led all scorers with 11 points.
Nova Southeastern took its largest lead, by 13, with 18:49 to play in the second half. Lynn was able to cut the deficit to four with just three minutes remaining in regulation but the Sharks held on for the 62-57 win. NSU shot an impressive 50 percent from the field in the second half while holding Lynn to just 33.3 percent and 15.4 percent from behind the three-point arc.
Harrison came alive in the second half, scoring 16 points while grabbing eight boards to lead all scorers. The Blue & White scored 10 second chance points and 13 points came off the bench. Josh Soto contributed eight points including a crucial trey that helped cut NSU's lead in the final minutes.
Page led all scorers with 22 points and seven rebounds. Lander's also scored in double-digits for the Blue & White with 11 points and six rebounds while Kaleb Clyburn dished out a game-high eight assists.
