Box Score Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – On a night similar to this Friday night Lynn University's volleyball team bested Nova Southeastern 3-1, exactly two years later the Fighting Knights earn another Halloween victory over the Sharks by an identical 3-1 score (23-25, 25-21, 29-27, 25-21). With the win Lynn improves to 11-11 overall and 4-7 in Sunshine State Conference play.
Claire Angelich, celebrating her birthday, had a career-high 16 kills on a .400 clip. Lydia West and Morgan Dulaney joined the sophomore with double-digit kills of 13 and 10. Marissa Tandron posted 51 assists in the win.
Nikki Haben anchored the defense with 23 kills, Katie Knight also notched double-digit digs with 18.
Lynn managed to take the first two points, but the two sides were destined for a tight set. A total of 12 score ties were cumulated in the opener before a pair of Sharks points with a tied 23-23 score ended the frame.
An early rally from the Fighting Knights set the tone for the second stanza. Trailing early 9-6 Lynn scored the next four, with Angelich notching back-to-back kills in the spree, to take the lead. The Blue & White found themselves behind again at 16-14, and for the second time in the set rallied back to knot the score at 16-16. With the score tied 18-18 Morgan Dulaney provided back-to-back kills, followed by an assisted block with Angelich, gave Lynn the lead which they held for the rest of the game.
Despite trailing for the bulk of the frame, the Fighting Knights kept chipping away at the lead until it the score was tied 22-22. With the now tied score NSU scored two straight points to force a Lynn timeout. Following the pause in action the Sharks had a service error, followed a West kill to tie the score again. After exchanging the next six points the Blue & White got two in a row to end the set.
Following the framework of the previous stanza, Lynn played from behind for the majority of play. With the score at 19-17, the Fighting Knights scored three straight to take the lead and force a Nova timeout. A block by Tandron and Angelich ended the contest.
