Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's volleyball team improved to 14-12 overall and 7-8 in the Sunshine State Conference with a 3-0, (25-10, 25-16, 25-15) win over Florida Tech (9-21, 1-14) on Tuesday night. Elyse Fleck had a match-high 12 kills in the victory, marking the 16th time this season she has logged double digit kills.
With the victory, the senior class of Nikki Haben, Lizzy Raffa and Fleck finish their career a perfect 4-0 against the Panthers at home.
Fighting Knights cruised to a 25-10 win in the first set. The Blue and White took an early 9-3 lead that was capped off by a service ace from Raffa. Lynn closed out the first set on a 10-3 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Fleck and Claire Angelich each had three kills while Liga Strautniece had a pair of service aces and Haben led the team with four digs.
Fleck carried over the Fighting Knights momentum scoring the first point of the second set with a kill. However, the Panthers changed tempo and took its first lead of the match, 7-6, on a kill by Marilyn Dick. The Blue and White knotted the game at 12-all with a kill by Fleck and would finish the set on a 13-4 run to be one set away from victory.
In the final set of the match, the home team held the Panthers to a -.027 hitting percentage en route to the sweep. Lynn broke out to an early 7-3 lead with a pair of kills each by Fleck and Katie Knight. With the score at 7-5, the Fighting Knights went on to a 7-0 run to create an eight point cushion at 14-6. For the rest of the night Lynn held at least a six-point advantage over the opponent.
