Box Score

BOCA RATON, Fla. – In one of their biggest games of the season the Lynn University volleyball team came to play, defeating Rollins 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-22). With the win Lynn improves to 13-11 overall and 6-7 in the Sunshine State Conference.

Senior Lizzy Raffa served her 100th career service ace in the first set of the victory, becoming the fourth Fighting Knight in program history to reach triple-digits.

Elyse Fleck fueled the offense with 13 kills on a .438 clip. Claire Angelich and Lydia West provided nine and eight kills. Marissa Tandron mediated the attack with 37 digs.

On the defensive side Katie Knight anchored the defense with 14 digs. Nikki Haben joined Knight in douible-digits with 13. At the net Angelich and West both had six total blocks apiece.

The Fighting Knights overpowered the Tars (15-13, 7-6 SSC) in the opener hitting .433 as a team. With her team up 7-6, Tandron served and led the rotation to six straight points and created a lead that Lynn would keep for the remainder of the frame. Leading 18-11 Raffa reached her career milestone of 100 service aces.

Riding the momentum from the previous set the Blue & White scored the first two points and never trailed for the stanza. Rollins responded bringing the score within two at 17-15, and kept it within three for the remainder of the game, but a Fleck kill ended the set.

Despite giving up the opening two points of the third frame, Lynn responded with eight of the following nine points to create separation between the teams. For the second-straight set Rollins rallied, bringing it to within one at 22-21, but two straight points by the Blue & White ended the threat. The contest ended with a block from West and Tandron.

The Fighting Knights are back in action on Saturday when they host Tampa at 2 p.m. Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com and receive in-game updates by following @Lynn_Knights on Twitter and Instagram.
