Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University's women's basketball team fell to Tampa 69-44 on Saturday afternoon in a Sunshine State Conference match-up. The Fighting Knights moved to 12-10 on the season and 5-7 in SSC play. Sharneka McCatty led Lynn with 13 points while Zachara Bailey notched an additional 11 points.
The Fighting Knights struggled to put down shots in the opening period, shooting 27.3 percent from the field, allowing the Spartans to take control early. Tampa took the largest lead of 16 points, 36-20, in the last 15 second of the first half when Ellen Nurmi hit a three sending the Fighting Knights to the locker room with a significant disadvantage.
Lynn never gave up forcing 12 turnovers, but The Spartans controlled the tempo of the game to maintain a steady lead over the Fighting Knights. Tylar Tracy scored seven points in the last 20 minutes with three steals while Bailey added an additional six points.
Lynn shot 27.9 percent from the field in the game while Tampa shot 47.2 percent. Both teams shot 20 percent from three-point range while the Spartans maintained the advantage in shots from beyond the arc.
