Box Score Saint Leo, Fla. – Lynn University's volleyball team
started hot at the Bowman Center but failed to capitalize on a 2-0 lead against Saint Leo to lose 3-2 (22-25, 24-26, 25-15, 25-11, 15-12). With the loss the Fighting Knights fall to 4-5 on the season and 0-2 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Despite
starting the afternoon down 8-1 the Fighting Knights fought back to take the first set while holding the Lions to a -.038 hitting percentage.
Lydia West powered the offense in the first set victory with five kills. Tandron provided 10 assists while Haben led the defense with five digs.
The second frame was a back-and-fourth affair with a total of 16 ties, included a knotted score at 24-24. Back-to-back kills by
Katie Knight and West put Lynn up 2-0. Dulaney filled up the stat sheet with five kills, two digs and a
block assist. Tandron
played a key part in the offense and defense with nine assist and six digs.
Trying to
avoid being swept Saint Leo came out strong hitting .345 as a team to take the third set. Another aggressive game from the Lions tied the score at 2-2. In the two losses
Claire Angelich and Dulaney both had three kills and three blocks assisted.
In the deciding battle Lynn fell behind early and couldn't overcome the deficit. Trailing by as many as five in the first to 15 sprint the Blue & White rallied to even up the score at 11 all before surrendering four of the next five points to end the contest.
