BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University's women's basketball team earned its first Sunshine State Conference win of the season on Wednesday night with a 66-45 rout of Barry to improve to 7-8 overall. Barry falls to 9-8 overall and 1-5 in the SSC. McCatty had a team-high 13 points in the victory marking it the fourth-straight game she has scored in double figures.

Barry jumped out to a 5-0 lead but Lynn answered back and took its first lead of the game, 10-9, with 13:24 to go in the first half after a layup by Sharneka McCatty. Shatorria Baker hit a three-pointer with 9:49 remaining to give the Fighting Knights their biggest lead thus far, 17-13. A trey by Tylar Tracy at 3:19 put Lynn ahead by eight, but BU answered back with a shot from downtown to trail 27-22 at the break.

Despite shooting 38.5 percent from the field in the opening half, Barry trailed by five to Lynn. The Blue & White shot 31.4 percent from the floor and capitalized on 14 Buccaneer turnovers. Lynn edged BU 21-20 in rebounds, six of which were claimed by Nelson-James who also had a block and a pair of steals.

Lynn took a 10-point lead when Baker drained her second trey of the game. Lynn would extend its lead to 19 with 2:45 to play after back-to-back steals by the Fighting Knights which both were followed by fast-break layups by Shay Harris. The Blue & White held off for a 21-point victory and its first SSC win of the season.

The Fighting Knights shot 42.9 percent from the field in the second half and once again out-rebounded the Bucs 19-14. Tracy had nine points making six free throws on six attempts. Overall, Lynn shot 36.5 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from three-point range.

McCatty was joined in double-figures by Nelson-James and Harris who each had 12 points and four assists. Nelson-James also led the Blue & White with nine boards and Harris had six assists, two blocks and seven steals.
