Box Score 2 Carrollton, Ga. - Lynn University's volleyball team got itself off to a solid start at this weekend's South Region Crossover on Friday, defeating Union (Tenn.), 3-1, and West Alabama, 3-0, on the tournament's opening day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set 1 | After falling behind early (11-5), Lynn tied the score at 14-14 then closed out the set on a 6-0 run. Cleuza Porto converted four of her seven attacks to lead the offense.
- Set 2 | The Fighting Knights had their best hitting performance of the match (.333) as Claire Angelich was perfect on the attack with five kills.
- Set 3 | Union posted its only positive hitting percentage of the match in the third set and utilized it for the win to prevent the Lynn sweep.
- Set 4 | Lydia West recorded four blocks in the final set to help Lynn secure the victory.
STAT OF THE MATCH:
- Angelich and Porto led the offense with 12 kills each, while Nicol Colonna was right behind with nine.
- West finished with a match-high five blocks and tacked on eight kills.
- Marissa Tandron distributed 41 assists, while Katie Knight recorded a team-high 12 digs.
- Knight and Shanotta Bawek each served up three aces.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set 1 | Lynn fell behind early again in the opener (5-0) but closed out on a 10-4 run. West started off the match with five kills on eight attacks and nabbed a solo block.
- Set 2 | The Blue & White defense was on point as Knight and Porto combined for 15 digs. UWA stayed close throughout but Lynn never gave up its lead.
- Set 3 | Lynn dominated the third set to cap of Friday's action, hitting .393 with 17 kills. Morgan Dulaney caught fire with six strikes.
STAT OF THE MATCH:
- Dulaney was the only player from either team to reach double-digit kills (10), but a trio of Fighting Knights were not far behind. West and Porto recorded nine apiece and Cristina Llorens tallied seven.
- Knight surpassed double-digit digs for the third consecutive match (12) while Llorens and Porto each added 11.
- Tandron recorded 35 assists and six digs. Knight served two more aces, while Jayden Davila-McClary tallied eight digs and two aces.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Tandron's 35 assists against UWA marks a new season-high in three-set matches.
- In two matches against UWA this season, Dulaney has combined for 29 kills while hitting .466.
