Box Score St. Petersburg, Fla.- Tifani Kerrison had a team-high 16 points in Lynn University's 74-66 loss at Eckerd on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights fall to 7-13 overall and 1-10 in Sunshine State Conference play while EC advances to 16-6 and 6-5.
The Blue and White put up 24 points in the first half shooting 34.6 percent from the field. 14 turnovers in the first half plagued the Fighting Knights as the Tritons scored 16 points off of Lynn's turnovers. Shatorria Baker had a team-best eight points in the half shooting two-for-two from three-point range.
Lynn's bench scored 19 points in the opening frame with LaKendra Jones adding seven points a block and a steal for one of her best offensive halves of the season. Eckerd shot 53.3 percent in the first half and made eight-of-eight free throws to lead, 43-24, at the break.
Lynn trailed by as many as 23 in the second half but would cut the deficit to nine with a 14-2 run from the six minute mark until the final minute. Eckerd held off for an eight-point victory to defeat the Blue and White in St. Petersburg for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
The Fighting Knights improved to shoot 53.6 percent in the second half as Kerrison scored a team-high 12 points while Isidora Madzarevic added 11 points and three rebounds. Eckerd shot 41.4 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from three-point range in the second stanza.
Rana Thomas paced EC and led all scorers with 21 points while Trine Kasemagi had 20 points for the Tritons. The victors edged Lynn 32-30 in rebounds and capitalized on 22 Fighting Knight turnovers. Lynn had two players score in double figures while Zachara Bailey had eight and Sharneka McCatty, Jones and Baker each had eight points respectively.
