Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – There was hardly an empty seat in the house Friday night as the Lynn University volleyball team battled 17th-ranked Palm Beach Atlantic inside the de Hoernle Sports and Cultural Center. Lynn (5-2) got on top first with a 25-22 win in the opener, but the Sailfish rattled off three straight to take the match in four and improve to 6-2 on the season.
After falling 25-19 and 29-27 in the second and third sets, the Fighting Knights appeared poised to rally the comeback with a 7-0 run to kick off the fourth frame. PBA inched its way back until retaking the lead at 15-14, before closing out the home team, 25-20.
The Blue and White struggled offensively against a tall PBA front line but remained competitive in the game will solid front-line defense of their own. Claire Angelich (7) and Morgan Dulaney (5) both notched season-high block totals to lead Lynn to its best blocking output so far this season (13). Lydia West posted four blocks, two solo, and Cristina Llorens assisted on three.
Llorens registered her second double-double on the season with 17 digs and a team-high 13 kills, while Dulaney (11) and West (10) reached double figures on the attack.
Katie Knight led the backline with her third 20-plus dig performance this year. Setters Marissa Tandron and Jayden Davila-McClary facilitated 34 and 16 assists, respectively.
Lynn kicks off the conference schedule on the road tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 19, with a 2 p.m. contest at Nova Southeastern.
