Box Score Lakeland, Fla. – A solo block late in the third set Saturday afternoon vaulted senior Claire Angelich into the Lynn University record books and gave the Fighting Knights' volleyball squad the final push of momentum it needed to close out an upset sweep over 21st-ranked Florida Southern. Angelich now claims sole possession of the program's career solo blocks record with 57 and counting.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set 1 | Florida Southern controlled the opening minutes of the contest as the home side put Lynn up against the wall with a 7-1 run. The Fighting Knights kept clawing back until finally gaining their first edge at 18-17. Three aces from Katie Knight helped her squad to a 1-0 lead.
- Set 2 | FSC couldn't conjure up an answer for the Lynn offense in the second. The Blue and White had a monster frame as they hit .609, served up four more aces and took it to the Mocs in a 25-10 rout. Nicol Colonna led Lynn on two scoring runs from the service line and tallied both of her aces in the match.
- Set 3 | The sides traded mini-runs to keep the third stanza close early on. Following a 6-6 tie, the Fighting Knights fired off a four-point spurt to open up an advantage they wouldn't give back. Angelich posted up for the record-breaking stuff at 18-13 as Lynn fended off the Mocs for a clean sweep.
STATS OF THE MATCH:
- In addition to her 32 assists, setter Marissa Tandron got involved on the attack with some crafty dumps, tallying five kills on eight attempts.
- Knight finished with a match-high five aces to help thrust her back atop the Sunshine State Conference leaderboard. Knight and Tandron co-led the squad with 10 digs each.
- Lydia West had an incredibly efficient outing on the attack, bouncing eight kills on 11 swings with no errors for a .727 hitting percentage.
- Cleuza Porto was the only Lynn attacker to reach double figures, putting away 10 kills (.261). Cristina Llorens chipped in nine kills (.474) and six digs.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Fighting Knights' .390 attack percentage as a team is the highest against a conference opponent in program history.
- Angelich now stands atop the program record book with 57 career solo blocks. Michele Newman held the previous record with 56 since 2003.
- The Mocs had won nine straight matchups coming into today. Lynn's last victory over FSC was in 2011 and it marks the first triumph in Lakeland since 2009.
- FSC had won 12 straight home games dating back to last season, and were 6-0 at home in 2016.
- Lynn secured its third win over a ranked opponent since 2011 (#1 Tampa, '15; #18 Emporia St., '11).
