Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Strong individual performances on each side of the ball helped the Lynn University volleyball team notch its first Sunshine State Conference win of the season on Tuesday night with a 3-1 decision over Barry University. Cleuza Porto matched her career-high with 23 kills while Cristina Llorens set a personal-best on defense with 22 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set 1 | The Bucs held onto the lead for the majority of the first set, but Lynn never let them get more than two points ahead. A triplet of kills from Porto and Llorens finally pushed the Fighting Knights out in front at 16-15 as the home side fended off its opposition the rest of the way. Porto was firing from the get-go with nine kills (.438) in the opening frame.
- Set 2 | The second set was all Lynn as it jumped out to a 5-0 start behind the serving of Nicol Colonna. The Blue & White led the rest of the stanza and carried quality momentum heading into the locker room. Lynn had its best hitting frame of the night (.171) while Barry hit in the negative.
- Set 3 | Another big run to open the set, this time an 8-0 edge behind Llorens' serving, put Lynn in a great spot to clinch the sweep but the Bucs clawed back behind the swing of Jaeda Allen. The sides were tied at 18-18 but a string of kills from Allen kept Barry alive.
- Set 4 | The fourth set went back and forth with six lead changes and 14 tie scores, but it was the Fighting Knights who prevailed in the end. Following a 20-20 tally, the Bucs committed a handful of costly errors that granted Lynn the 25-21 triumph.
STATS OF THE DAY:
- Porto recorded her fifth 20+ kill match of the season, putting away a match-high 23 on a .214 clip. The senior added 14 digs for her third double-double in the past four matches. She also tacked on three blocks and a career-high-tying three service aces.
- With a previous personal-best of 17 digs, Llorens bolstered the defense Tuesday night with 22. She added three blocks and 10 kills for the double-double.
- Marissa Tandron paced the offense with 41 assists while tallying 11 digs and two blocks on defense.
- Lydia West racked up a season-high six blocks on the night and chipped in five kills.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Fighting Knights came up big at the net with a season-high nine blocks, including four solo stuffs.
- Barry defeated Lynn in both of the matchups last season.
- After starting off the year with 8+ service aces in the first seven outings, the Blue & White have been held under four in three straight.
