HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Right off the whistle, the Buccaneers flew across the field as the highest scoring offense in the Sunshine State Conference looked to gain an early advantage.
  • Two shots in the first four minutes forced Blue & White keeper Alexander Roth into action but it was a point-blank save off a header from Mitchell Smith inside the six-yard box which proved his mettle.
  • Lynn's offense, which is second in the league, was stymied until a shot from Victor Moreira minutes before the halftime whistle sailed into traffic and was saved by Barry's Michael Scheraldi.
  • A breakdown in the central defense allowed Hanno Antoni to score his first goal of the night and give Barry a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute.
  • Six minutes later it was Thomas Coombes who scored off another defensive mishap, putting the Buccaneers ahead 2-0.
  • Lynn attempted to get back in the match but opportunities were missed with Luca Puster hit off the underside of the crossbar in the 57th minute and a shot from Dominic Docherty was halted on the right post from the Barry defense.
  • The Fighting Knights' momentum was halted in the 75th minute following a top-shelf goal by Antoni to give Barry the 3-0 advantage.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • Lynn held a 13-12 shot advantage and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
  • Roth turned away seven shots and Scheraldi made five saves.
  • The two teams combined for 29 fouls and nine yellow cards.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Roth set a career-high in saves in the opening half but did not record a stop in the second half.
  • Lynn has been shutout in two of its last three games.
  • This is the most goals Lynn has allowed to Barry since 2010.
