Women's Basketball Outlasted in Overtime by Barry

Boca Raton, Fla. – The Lynn University women's basketball team mounted a furious fourth-quarter comeback to force overtime, but ultimately came up just short, falling to Barry 90-89 in front of a raucous crowd at the de Hoernle Sports and Cultural Center. Janay Williams, whose put-back tied the game with four seconds remaining in regulation, led the way for the Fighting Knights with 11 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • Williams was selected as a starter by head coach Julia Huddleston and didn't disappoint, grabbing five offensive rebounds and adding a 5-for-7 effort at the charity stripe.
  • In her first start in Blue and White, Kevyn McKae made 4-of-5 triples on her way to a season-high 20 points.
  • Jaylen Snipes facilitated the offense effectively, scoring 17 points while dishing out a team-high five assists.
  • Kelsi Fizer came up one rebound shy of her fifth double-double this season, totaling 14 points and nine rebounds.
  • Lynn had its shooting stroke going, shooting 52.2 percent for the game including a 10-for-20 performance from three-point land.  
  • Barry shot 41.9 percent from the field, making 12-of-38 three-point attempts.
  • The Blue and White's 31 turnovers are a season-high, of which Barry scored 35 points off Lynn's miscues.
  • Lynn outrebounded the Bucs 45-37, but lost the battle on the offensive boards, bested by Barry 16-12 in that category. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Fighting Knights trailed by 13 points, down 78-65 with 6:17 remaining in the game, but went on an 18-5 run to close the fourth to force the extra period.
  • Lynn's 89 points scored are its most since scoring 90 at Coker on Nov. 12, 2011.
  • The loss for the Blue and White is their first at home this season, falling to 9-1.
  • Six different Fighting Knights scored in double-figures.
  • Loie Webb made one three-pointer, her seventh-straight game with at least one made triple and 12th overall.
