'Fish Upset No. 11 Men's Basketball

West Palm Beach, Fla. – The 11th-ranked Lynn University men's basketball team saw its largest halftime deficit of the season Wednesday night and the Fighting Knights were unable to close the gap as the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish notched a 75-64 Sunshine State Conference upset.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • Four Fighting Knights scored in double figures but no player surpassed 13 points on the night.
  • Darius Moore hit 3-of-5 attempts from long range for a team-high 13 points while also leading his squad in assists (4).
  • Jamal Palmer and Michael Baez both struggled to convert from the field, but each finished with 12 points apiece. Baez added seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
  • Daniel Cooper had a big night, hauling in a game-high nine rebounds while scoring a career-high 10 points. He shot 4-of-6 from the field and tacked on three steals, two helpers and a block.
  • Ryan Peterson chipped in seven points off the bench, going 3-for-3 at the charity stripe.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Lynn trailed 40-25 at halftime, marking its largest halftime deficit of the season and the biggest since the Fighting Knights were down six points at the break in the season opener vs. Clark Atlanta.
  • Lynn had won three consecutive matchups vs. PBA coming into tonight, posting an 86-70 home victory earlier this season.
  • The Blue and White struggled from the free-throw line (13-22), shooting below 60% for just the third time this season.
  • All three of Lynn's losses this season have been on the road.
  • The Fighting Knights are currently nationally ranked in both polls, coming in at No. 11 on the D2SIDA National Media Poll and at No. 13 on the NABC Coaches Poll.

The Fighting Knights will be back at home in their next game, where they are 12-0 this season, hosting Eckerd on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 4 p.m.
