Lindner leads Fighting Knights to their fourth consecutive win

St. Petersburg, Florida - Behind Nadia Lindner's 15 kills and 16.5 points, the Fighting Knights defeated Eckerd 3-0 for their fourth win in a row, and their sixth in seven tries.

STATS OF THE MATCH:

  • In the first set, the Fighting Knights took a 3-2 lead, and they never trailed again. The Tritons went on a run late to tie the score at 19, but Lynn's Lauren Odom was able to slam home a kill to give Lynn the 25-22 win and the 1-0 lead in the match.
  • The Fighting Knights came out strong in the second set, taking a 4-1 lead. However, the Tritons fought back, putting together a 5-1 run to take a 6-5 lead. Lynn fell behind by as many as five, but they put together a few mini runs to stay close, then took the lead behind a 5-0 streak late in the set. Lynn would take the second set by the same score as the first, 25-22, to take the 2-0 advantage in the match.
  • The third set would prove to be the final one of the night, as it was all Fighting Knights from beginning to end. Lynn led by as many as 10 halfway through the set and finished it with a 25-16 victory. The set gave Lynn the 3-0 win.
  • The Fighting Knights outhit the Tritons .293-.159 thanks to some stellar offensive numbers. Alexis Eaves converted on two of her three attacks, and Lauren Odom recorded a kill percentage of .556, converting on six of her nine attack attempts.
  • Odom also added two block assists, while Victoria Macaluso led the team with four blocks, including three block assists. Morgan Browne and Riley Nieporte each added two block assists of their own.
  • After getting the start at libero, Isabella Gentile led the team with 11 digs, while Sonja Udovcic recorded nine. Udovcic also posted seven kills, the second-most on the team.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Lindner's 15 kills moved her into the top 10 in the SSC in kills per set. She is averaging 2.97 per set, which is good enough for ninth in the conference.
  • Odom moved into second in the conference in total blocks and blocks per set. She has recorded 80 so far this season and is averaging 1.29 per set.
  • Macaluso is currently sixth in the conference in kill percentage. Her season total is .346. Odom is not far behind her in eighth place with a mark of .341.

UP NEXT:
The Fighting Knights are back in action tomorrow at 4 p.m. They will travel to Saint Leo to take on the Lions as they look for their fifth-straight win in their final conference matchup before the South Region Crossover.
