- The story of the night was the Fighting Knights' defense which frustrated the Choctaws from start to finish. Lynn held Mississippi College to just 1-11 from three-point land (9.1%) and 38.6% from the field. The Fighting Knights pulled down 41 rebounds compared to just 27 from the Choctaws. Led by four steals from Bornelus, the Fighting Knights racked up 13 as a team.
- Peevy recorded a double-double in the win, as he led the team with 12 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass.
- Bornelus led the team with five assists, while Tommie Luke was right behind him with four.
- As a team, the Fighting Knights shot 17-19 from the free throw line, with Kurnaz, Peevy, Bornelus and Ibrahima Sankare making all of their attempts in the game.
- Coming in off the bench, Jamison Evans knocked down two three-pointers, the second-most on the team behind Bornelus who recorded three.
- The Fighting Knights went into the halftime locker room doubling up the Choctaws 38-19. Mississippi College would get the game as close as 13 in the second half, but the run was short-lived. Lynn ended the game on a 15-3 run to win going away by a final of 78-51.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Fighting Knights went into the break with a comfortable 19-point lead. The only concern from there was the team letting up early in the second half to let the Choctaws back in the game. However, Peevy let it be known just over a minute into the half that wasn't going to be the case when he blew by a Choctaw defender and slammed the ball home with one hand to put the Fighting Knights up by 21 points.
- Late in the second half, with Lynn still leading by double-digits, Branden Ellis poked the ball away from a Choctaw player. It was scooped up by Bornelus who drove to the offensive side of the court and found a driving Gaines, who flew down the lane for an emphatic jam that brought the crowd to its feet.
