Bornelus scores 30 to lead the Fighting Knights past Valdosta State

West Palm Beach, Florida – Another Fighting Knight 30 point performance paves the way for a victory back to back games, but this time it's Brandon Bornelus vs Valdosta state.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • In the first half, the Fighting Knights and the Blazers were neck and neck. Vladosta State went into the break leading 40-38, putting Lynn behind heading into halftime for the first time this season.
  • Bornelus' incredible performance began when he played all 20 minutes of the first half. He put up 13 points and dished out two assists while shooting 50% (4-8 FG, 3-6 3FG).
  • The next two leading scorers for the Fighting Knights in the first half were Christian Peevy with seven points and Tommie Luke with six points. Luke also added four rebounds.
  • In the second half, the Fighting Knights strung together runs of 11 straight and 10 straight as they outscored the Blazers 58-45 to leave West Palm Beach with another double-digit victory.
  • Bornelus added 17 points and four assists in the second half, shooting 4-5 from the field, 3-4 from beyond the arc and 6-6 from the free throw line. He ended the game 6-10 from three-point range and 8-13 from the field.
  • Peevy's second half featured 14 points and four rebounds in 15 minutes of play. He while shot 5-8 from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line.
  • Luke recorded 13 more points in the second half, bringing him to 19 on the night. 
  • Cameron Gaines went 3-3 from beyond the arc as he posted 13 points in the game. He was just one rebound away from a double-double, as he led the Fighting Knights with nine boards.
  • Branden Ellis added eight points, five boards and three assists as he played 26 minutes off the bench.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE

  • For the third consecutive season, the Fighting Knights are off to a 4-0 start.
  • Lynn continued their great free throw shooting, and it made a big difference in the outcome of the game. They outshot Valdosta State 88.5% to 65% from the line
  • Bornelus was the second Fighting Knight this season to score 30 points in a game. Peevy did it in Lynn's 31-point victory over Eckerd this past Saturday.

UP NEXT:

The Fighting Knights will be back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. for their first true road game of the season when they take on Barry.
