STATS OF THE MATCH:
- The Fighting Knights came out on fire, hitting .261 in the first set to just .122 for the Spartans. The Fighting Knights used a 6-0 run to end the set to put the game away and take the 1-0 lead. Lynn had great hitting performances down the line with Nadia Lindner recording six kills, Sonja Udovcic recording five and Lauren Odom adding three. Emily Edwards assisted on seven of the 16 kills in the set.
- Lynn got off to a hot start in the second set, playing from in front for the first half of it. However, Tampa used a 4-0 run to take a 15-13 lead and force a timeout from Coach Milewski. However, the break wasn't enough to stop the momentum. Tampa was able to open up the run to 9-0, which put the set out of reach. The Spartans would ultimately win 25-15, ending the set on a 14-2 run to even the match at 1-1.
- In the third set, the Spartans continued to play with momentum, and they were able to win the set with relative ease by a final score of 25-15.
- The Spartans finished out the match by winning the fourth set by a final of 25-20.
- Odom was great in the loss, recording eight kills and five blocks, including one solo block.
- Edwards and Udovcic both recorded double-doubles. Edwards posted 18 assists and 14 digs, while Udovcic put up 10 kills and 13 digs.
- Lindner led the way with 17 kills and nine digs.
- Isabella Gentile tied Edwards for the most digs on the team with 14.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Gentile, who got the start at libero, recorded her first career kill on a play you'd have to see to believe. A vicious attack attempt hit her in the face, and the ball bounced off at a strange angle and found its way beyond the Spartans' defense to the back left corner of the court for the point. The play came in the first set and fired up the Fighting Knights as they finished out the set with the win.
- Odom now has 114 total blocks this season, which is already the fifth most in a season in University history. With 12 more, she would tie her record from 2019.
UP NEXT:
The Fighting Knights will head to Lakeland to take on Florida Southern. Lynn defeated the Mocs earlier in the season 3-1. In the first South Region ranking, Lynn was ranked sixth and the Mocs were ranked seventh.
