STATS OF THE GAME:
- In the first half, a physical game was played by both teams, but it was ultimately the Fighting Knights capitalizing on their opportunities.
- In the 24th minute, the Fighting Knights took the lead off of a beautiful goal from Rodrigo Fernandez. David Bauer had the assist on the goal with a perfect cross from the right side to the middle of the field, and Fernandez took the feed off his chest before recovering to spin around and rip a shot into the net.
- Fernandez's goal was the only one of the first half and the only shot on goal for Lynn out of their five shots.
- Patrick Nettekoven added two saves on the Bucs' two shots.
- In the second half, the physical gameplay continued for both. In the 72nd minute, the Bucs' took a corner kick, and after the ball bounced around, it found its way onto the foot of Jordi Ramon who put it past Nettekoven to tie the game at one.
- Neither team was able to score again, and the game went into overtime.
- The first ten-minute overtime featured more physical play and yellow cards, but no scoring for either team.
- In the second overtime, the Bucs' again found the back of the net off a corner kick that found its way to Ramon's head and past a diving Nettekoven.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Though he recorded zeros in the box score, Michael Knoetzinger had numerous big plays in the midfield, taking the ball away from Barry's offensive players seemingly at will.
- Kyle Patton had a couple of chances in the first half, but was unable to finish. One was a header that barely missed over the net, and the other was a sliding shot that he pushed just wide of the net.
- In the 75th minute, Javier Ibanez had a chance at scoring off a feed to the middle of the field, but his shot went just high over the net.
- Lukas Hombach added an opportunity after a cross from Lukas Ostermann, but his kick went just over the net in the 81st minute.
- With seven seconds remaining, Fernandez almost pulled out the win in regulation for the Fighting Knights. After a throw-in, Ostermann crossed a beautiful ball to the captain, and though he had a good look, he hit the ball just over the net.
- Lynn led in shots 10 to six, but Barry led in shots on goal with five to three.
