STATS OF THE GAME:

  • Javier Ibanez got the scoring started in the 23rd minute when he took a Jake Jensen pass and put it in the back of the net. It was the only goal of the first half for the Fighting Knights.
  • In the second half, the Fighting Knights turned it up to another level as they beat the Tritons' goalkeeper four times. It all started when Lukas Hombach capitalized on a penalty kick in the 58th minute.
  • On Lynn's third goal, Hombach was credited with the assist, as he found Lukas Ostermann for a beautiful header. It was one of two goals in the game for Ostermann.
  • Sinisa Sprecakovic added another goal in the 77th minute. He was assisted by Alexandre Horveno, who would not be denied as he fought through defenders and got the ball to his teammate for the score.
  • Patrick Nettekoven faced only one shot on goal, and he turned it away with a beautiful diving save.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Lynn's 31-2 record against Eckerd is their second-best mark against any SSC foe. Only their 12-0 record against Embry-Riddle is better.
  • Horveno's ball handling on the goal which he assisted was something to marvel at. Numerous times it looked like the defense was going to be able to push him off the ball, but he just kept fighting and found Sprecakovic for the score.
  • The defense was fantastic throughout the game, never letting Eckerd threaten. The Tritons managed only one shot compared to 13 for Lynn. In the second half, the Fighting Knights didn't give up a shot.

The Fighting Knights will travel to Nova Southeastern to take on the Sharks on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m.
