Fighting Knights sweep PBA to earn first conference win of the season

West Palm Beach, Florida - The Fighting Knights traveled to West Palm Beach and swept the Sailfish to earn their first conference win of the season. They broke a five-game losing streak in the process.

STATS OF THE MATCH:

  • After losing in straight sets on Tuesday, Lynn entered Saturday night's matchup determined to get a conference win. In the first set, the combined offensive efforts of Sonja Udovcic, Lauren Odom, and Nadia Lindner, who each recorded five kills in the frame, propelled Lynn to a decisive 25-14 win.
  • In the second set, PBA came out determined to defend their home court. The Sailfish gave the Fighting Knights all they had, leading throughout the set. However, Lindner and Ruth Zijlstra played phenomenal defense to dig the Fighting Knights out of the hole. Ultimately, Lynn came away with the 28-26 win.
  • In the third set, the Fighting Knights put the Sailfish away with a 25-19 win. The Fighting Knights now move to 1-1 in conference play.
  • The Fighting Knights recorded 43 kills compared to the Sailfish's 34. Lynn also recorded fewer errors (14-19) and more than doubled PBA's hit percentage (.282-.130). 
  • Udovcic recorded a .500 hit percentage and 10 kills in the match. Lindner led the way for the Fighting Knights with 13 kills. Both players recorded double-digit digs as well.
  • Zijlstra led the way with 19 digs and she recorded two service aces. Lindner, Emily Edwards and Adrianna Casados each recorded a service ace well. Casados (15) and Edwards (21) also combined for 36 kills.
  • Victoria Macaluso led the Fighting Knights with four blocks.

UP NEXT:
The Fighting Knights are on the road for their next two matches, which will be against Embry-Riddle and Rollins. Lynn will play the Eagles on Friday at 7 p.m. and Rollins on Saturday at 4 p.m.
