Fighting Knights bounce back with a straight-set victory over Rollins

Winter Park, Florida - After a frustrating straight-set loss on Friday night, the Fighting Knights went to Rollins and swept the Tars 3-0 to get back to .500 in SSC play.

STATS OF THE MATCH:

  • In the first set, the combined defensive efforts of Nadia Lindner and Lauren Odom caused all sorts of problems for the Tars. Seven digs from Lindner and two blocks from Odom allowed Lynn to record a 25-22 win. Odom's one solo block tied her for the Lynn University all-time career record in the category.
  • In the second set, the Fighting Knights came out and dominated from start to finish, never trailing once. Lindner recorded back-to-back service aces which gave the Fighting Knights a 20-10 lead. With Rollins in too deep of a hole, the Fighting Knights came away with the 25-13 win.
  • In the third set, the Tars gave Lynn everything they had in a back and forth set, but the Fighting Knights' strong offensive efforts sealed the match with a 25-21 win. The Fighting Knights now move to 2-2 in conference play.
  • The Fighting Knights recorded 33 kills compared to the Tars' 31. Lynn also recorded fewer errors (16-19) and recorded eight service aces.
  • Lindner (12), Odom (7), and Sonja Udovcic (6) recorded the most kills for Lynn in the match. Lindner also led the way for the Fighting Knights on defense with 10 digs.
  • Emily Edwards led the way with three service aces, and Lindner followed with two of her own.
  • Alexis Eaves made her season debut for the Fighting Knights. She recorded one block assist in the win.

UP NEXT:
The Fighting Knights begin a five-game homestand with a match against Florida Southern on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
