Fighting Knights score 26 in the fourth to defeat Panthers

Melbourne, Florida – The Fighting Knights scored nearly 50% of their points in the fourth quarter, as they completed an eight-point comeback on the road at Florida Tech.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The first 20 minutes of the game between the Fighting Knights and the Florida Tech Panthers was a defensive slugfest, with both teams shooting below 40% in the first half. The score heading into halftime was just 22-20 in favor of the Panthers.
  • Uloma Enyogasi kept the team within striking distance scoring 12 of the team's 20 first-half points. Enyogasi finished the game with a team-high 20 points and 7 rebounds while shooting 67% from the floor.
  • Lynn came out of the halftime locker room and struggled to put the ball in the basket, but their defense kept them close as they held the Panthers to 12 points on 36% shooting in the third.
  • The Fighting Knights entered the fourth quarter trailing 34-27 but flipped the script early in the fourth going on a 9-3 run. Brianna Sliwinski led the way with seven of the team's nine points to cut the deficit to one.
  • At the midway point of the fourth quarter, Sliwinski hit a huge layup to tie the game 40-40. Sliwinski finished the game with 9 points all coming in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter.
  • The Panthers' Cheyenne Scott hits a tough layup with 3:26 left to go in the fourth quarter to give the Panthers a three-point lead. Enyogasi answered with a layup of her own to cut the lead back to one.
  • On the Fighting Knights' next possession, Loie Webb drilled her first three-point shot of the night with just under two minutes remaining to give the Fighting Knights a two-point lead at 45-43.
  • Webb knocked down her second straight three-point shot with 33 seconds left to put the Fighting Knights on top 48-46. The Fighting Knights would never trail again in the game.
  • Trinity Edwards puts in two late free throws to put the game out of reach and extend the lead to four with 18 seconds left in the game.
  • Lynn continued their dominance on the defensive end of the floor to claim the victory holding the Panthers to 32% shooting from the field and 15% from the three-point line.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • The Fighting Knights continued their dominance on the boards, outrebounding their opponent for the third straight game. Lynn outrebounded the Panthers 34-27 on the afternoon.

UP NEXT:

The Fighting Knights will be back home on Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 5:30 p.m. against Embry-Riddle.
