Fighting Knights drop home contest against Barry

Boca Raton, Florida – The Fighting Knights hosted the Barry Bucs on Wednesday night, and despite leading at the half, they fell 83-68 in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Fighting Knights led for a majority of the first half, and they saw their lead swell to as many as six numerous times. However, near the end of the half, the Bucs went on a run to cut the lead to just one heading into the break.
  • In the first half, Branden Ellis led the way for the Fighting Knights with 11 points, while Christian Peevy and Jamison Evans each scored nine.
  • Lynn went 18-41 from the field, while Barry was just 11-29. However, the Bucs were 15-22 from the free throw line while Lynn was just 1-3.
  • The Fighting Knights had just four turnovers in the half while pulling in five steals.
  • The second half began close, but the Bucs were able to pull away in the latter part of the game. After having just four turnovers in the first half, the Fighting Knights recorded 12 in the second.
  • Ellis and Peevy each ended with 19 to lead the way for the Fighting Knights. They were the only two players on the team to score in double figures.
  • Ellis also led the way with nine rebounds, including six on the offensive glass, finishing just one board shy of a double-double. In addition, he led the team with three steals.
  • Normally excellent from the free throw line, the Fighting Knights were just 3-9 for the game, while the Bucs were 25-36.
  • In the loss, Brandon Bornelus scored five points, which moved him past Marcus Hayes '06 for the eighth-most points in school history. Bornelus has scored 1,070 points in his career as a Fighting Knight.

UP NEXT:

The Fighting Knights will be back at home on Sat. Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m when they take on Tampa. This will be the second time these two teams are meeting this season. When they met back in December Lynn lost the matchup 79-76
