Fighting Knights fall to Lions 62-48

Boca Raton, Florida – The Fighting Knights played their first home game in nearly a month against the Saint Leo Lions, ultimately dropping the contest by a score of 62-48.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • The first half was incredibly entertaining with both teams going on long runs and battling back and forth with each other. The Lions jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but the Fighting Knights wasted no time in getting the score back to even at 9-9. Lynn continued their hot play, finishing the period on a 15-5 run to take a 15-12 lead into the second quarter.
  • In the second quarter, the teams battled, with the largest lead of the period being only five. The Lions scored with 39 seconds left in the quarter to take a 29-28 lead into the half.
  • In the third quarter, Lynn and Saint Leo matched each other shot for shot again, with the Fighting Knights taking a 41-38 lead with 5:03 remaining in the quarter. However, the Fighting Knights were unable to score for the remainder of the period, and the Lions ended the quarter on a 12-0 run to take a 50-41 lead into the fourth.
  • In the fourth, Saint Leo outscored Lynn 12-7 and took home the 62-48 victory.
  • Trinity Edwards led the way for the Fighting Knights with 16 points. She made a team-high four three-pointers, and she recorded a team-high two blocks.
  • Dani Lozzi scored seven on 3-4 shooting from the field, and she dished out a team-high six assists. She also pulled down three rebounds and recorded both a steal and a block.
  • Three players, Uloma Enyogasi, Rachel Romich and Kelsi Fizer, recorded six rebounds each to lead the way for Lynn.
  • Enyogasi would add four assists, three steals, one block and seven points.
  • As a team, the Fighting Knights outrebounded the Lions 31-26, including 10-5 on the offensive glass. Lynn also had more assists (14-13) and more blocks (4-1). However, they also had 20 turnovers to just 11 for Saint Leo.

The Fighting Knights will be home again on Wednesday, Jan. 12 when they take on Palm Beach Atlantic at 5:30 p.m.
