Volleyball sweeps on senior day

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University volleyball team pushed its home winning streak to seven matches with a 3-0 shutout of Florida Southern, Friday on senior night.
 
The Fighting Knights improved their overall record to 18-5 while their SSC mark is now 10-4. Lynn is 7-1 at the de Hoernle Sports Center and has won the last 21 sets at home.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn defeated the Moccasins 25-18, 25-11 and 26-24
- The Fighting Knights hit .266 for the match with 49 kills and eight service aces
- Senior Nadia Lindner led all players with 18 kills, while senior Paige Barash posted 11 kills and 16 digs. Barash also led the Fighting Knights with four aces
- Senior Emily Edwards handed out 36 assists to go along with 11 digs
- Graduate Marin Black and sophomore Isabella Gentile both had 10 digs
- The Fighting Knights jumped out to a 8-0 lead in the first set and later collected a 3-0 scoring spurt for a 16-7 cushion
- Lynn closed out the game-one win by scoring the final five points while sophomore Aline Olegario registered two late kills
- Lynn opened up a 10-3 advantage in the second set and increased the lead to 15-4 behind a 5-1 run
- The Fighting Knights closed the set with the final five points backed by two aces from Barash
- Lynn opened up another early lead in the third set as it led 7-1 before Florida Southern rebounded to take a 15-13 cushion
- Barash smacked two kills inside a 4-1 run for the Fighting Knights as they grabbed a 22-20 lead
- Lindner capped the match with two kills as Lynn captured a 26-24 game three victory
