Evans scores 15, Lynn falls at FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Junior Jamison Evans scored 15 points to lead the Lynn University men's basketball team in scoring as the Fighting Knights endured an 81-46 loss to NCAA Division I Florida Atlantic University, Monday evening in an exhibition game.
 
It was a tale of two halves for the Fighting Knights as they struggled to keep pace with the Owls in the opening 20 minutes of action as FAU jumped out to a 42-16 cushion at intermission.
 
However, the Fighting Knights collected themselves and played better in the second half as they were outscored just 39-30.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:                
- FAU shot 50.8 percent from the floor for the game including 48.6 percent in the opening half
- The Owls also made 10 three-pointers, five in each half
- Evans totaled 15 points on 4-of-13 shooting, including all three of Lynn's three-pointers
- Freshman Jimel Lane connected on four shots for eight points and he added five rebounds
- Freshman Nordin Kapic pulled down a team-best seven rebounds for Lynn to go along with five points
- Florida Atlantic led by as many as 27 in the opening half on a late three-pointer with just 53 seconds left. The Owls took control of the first half with a 15-0 run
- Lynn shot 37.5 percent from the field in the second half
- The Fighting Knights were able to pull to within 31 points on two occasions in the second half. The first on two free throws from freshman Esteban Lluberes at 3:38 and the second on a three-pointer from Evans at 2:39
- Evans hit a free throw with 2:04 showing as Lynn got as close as 30 at 76-46
- The Fighting Knights also grabbed 28 rebounds and had 10 steals
