LAKELAND, Fla. – Graduate student
Jada Marone sank two free throws with just seconds left to lift Lynn University to a 69-68 win over Florida Southern, Thursday night.
The Fighting Knights improve to 10-3 overall on the season and 3-2 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The contest featured 10 ties and six lead changes
- Lynn shot 49.0 percent (25-of-51) from the field and knocked down seven three-pointers
- The Fighting Knights trailed by one point twice in the fourth frame before Marone made two free throws with six seconds left to lift Lynn to the 69-68 victory
- Marone led Lynn with 16 points
- The Fighting Knights outscored the Moccasins 41-35 in the first half
- The Fighting Knights led by five in the opening quarter when sophomore
Makayla Hemingway hit a three-pointer with 20 seconds left for a 21-16 lead
- A quick 8-0 scoring run in the second quarter gave Lynn the momentum and an 11-point lead just under the midway point in the quarter

Meghan Cramb handed the Fighting Knights the 11-point lead, 37-26, with a three-pointer at 4:23
- Florida Southern cut the lead to three, 37-34, moments later before Marone and sophomore
Rachel Romich each made a basket to give Lynn a 41-35 lead at halftime

Danielle Montelbano opened the second half scoring with a jumper for a 43-25 lead for the Fighting Knights

Kennedi Philson converted a traditional three-point play and Marone hit a jumper to close the third quarter with Lynn ahead 56-50
- Florida Southern led 18-13 in scoring in the fourth quarter
- The Moccasins used a 9-0 run in the fourth for a 66-65 lead with 3:44 to play
- Two free throws at 3:14 handed FSC a 68-67 edge before Marone's foul shots gave Lynn the victory
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Marone came off the bench to lead all Lynn players with 16 points. She also added six rebounds and four steals
- Cramb finished with 13 points and three three-pointers
