Fighting Knights women's lacrosse jumps to No. 9 in national rankings

Boca Raton, Florida - One week after earning their first national ranking in program history, the Lynn University women's lacrosse team is breaking new ground yet again. In the latest USA Lacrosse Magazine top 20 rankings, the Fighting Knights came in at No. 9, the highest ranking of any Sunshine State Conference team.

The news comes after a massive week for the Fighting Knights, in which they took down national No. 5 Rollins and national No. 20 Florida Tech in a span of four days. The victories moved them to 3-1 in conference play, which has them in second place, just a half-game behind Tampa for first. They will take on the Spartans on Saturday, Apr. 23 at 1 p.m.

Lynn is one of five SSC teams ranked in the top 20. Of the others, Lynn has already defeated two of them. The remaining two teams are Tampa, who comes in at No. 19, and Florida Southern who comes in at No. 15. Lynn will take on the Mocs on Sunday, Apr. 24 at 12 p.m. just one day after their showdown with the Spartans. The back-to-back days of play are due to a rainout earlier in the season.

Winners of nine of their last 10 games, the Fighting Knights will look to keep moving up the rankings, as they battle their way through their final three games of the season. Next up, they will travel to Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, Apr. 20 for a 7 p.m. game with the Sailfish. With a win there, Lynn would move very close to wrapping up a spot in the SSC Tournament which will be held later this month.
