FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Lynn University women's volleyball team dropped a narrow 3-2 match to Nova Southern in Sunshine State Conference action, Saturday.
Senior
Paige Barash led all players with 22 kills and the Fighting Knights hit .284 in the loss. Lynn won set one 25-18, dropped sets three (25-23) and four (25-20) and rebounded to even the match by taking game four, 25-20. The Sharks took the match by winning the fifth and decisive game 15-12.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn collected a 7-1 run in the middle of the first set for a 14-8 advantage

Nadia Lindner posted a service ace for a 20-13 lead, Barash smacked a kill for a 22-16 lead and senior
Emily Edwards closed out the set with a kill for the 25-18 win
- The Sharks grabbed a 6-2 lead in game two and later used a 5-0 run for a 19-15 lead
- Kills from Barash and graduate student
Monica Mazzoleni pulled Lynn to within one at 22-21
- Two kills and a block from Nova late in the second set handed it the 25-23 win
- The Fighting Knights scored the first point of the third set, but Nova slowly pulled away for the win behind a pair 4-0 runs for leads of 12-7 and 17-11
- Kate Mihacevich smacked a kill for the Sharks for the 25-20 victory
- Lynn tied the match at two with a dominant effort in the fourth set
- A 5-0 scoring jolt put the Fighting Knights up 11-7 and Linder posted a kill and an ace for a 14-10 cushion
- Lindner posted back-to-back kills for a 22-17 lead and Mazzoleni closed out set with a kill for a 25-20 win
- Neither team led by more than two points in the fifth set until the hosts grabbed a 13-10 lead behind consecutive kills
- Lindner smacked a kill and an error on the Sharks pulled Lynn to within one at 13-12
- Nova Southeastern secured the final two points, however, for the 15-12 win
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Barash hit .327 and added nine digs
- Lindner contributed 15 kills and 14 digs
- Edwards handed out 51 assists, 12 digs and six kills
- Graduate student
Marin Black led the way with 16 digs.
