BOCA RATON, Fla. – Three players hit over .400 and the trio combined for 27 kills as the Lynn University volleyball team shutout visiting Embry-Riddle, 3-0, Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights won by scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-20 and the win propels them into a tie for second place in the Sunshine State Conference standings with Embry-Riddle.
Lynn improves to 12-4 overall and is now 6-2 in the league. Lynn has won 15 of its last 16 home matches and all 15 of those victories have come via 3-0 shutout.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights hit .264 in the three-set win and held advantages in kills (45-34) and assists (39-33)
- Both teams finished with 54 digs, while the Eagles held a slim 8-6 edge in blocks

Aline Olegario combined to hit .469 to power Lynn upfront

Samantha Wolf smacked a pair of kills early in the opener to give the hosts a 4-2 lead
- The Fighting Knights later used a 7-1 run to break a 14 all tie as Olegario smacked a kill to start the run
- Chara added a late kill and graduate
Emily Edwards had a service ace to help seal the game-one win
- Embry-Riddle opened the second set with a 7-2 lead behind four kills from Isabella Rujano
- The Fighting Knights slowly pulled their way back into the set and trailed just 14-12
- Lynn took the lead for good behind a 5-0 run and junior
Maria Cecilia Pinho had a kill to grab a 25-21 win

- Set three saw both teams trade jabs for much of the game and the Eagles' Haley Manjack smacked a kill to knot the score at 17-17
- A 4-0 scoring spurt put Lynn in a 21-17 lead before three late errors from Embry-Riddle and a kill from Olegario handed the hosts a 25-20 win
