BOCA RATON, Fla. - The NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Committee announced the field of 40 teams for the 2023 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship and Lynn University was awarded the #7 seed in the Super Region 2 bracket.
Lynn (10-2-5) will face #10-seed Chowan (8-4-5) in a first round match on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 6:00 pm in Melbourne, Fla. The advancing team will take on the second seed and host, Florida Tech, on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6:00 pm.
The Fighting Knights have outscored their opponents 28-11 this season, ranking 11th in the nation in goals against per game (0.639) while goalkeeper Luca Clavero ranked 13th with eight shutouts. Lynn had five players earn All-SSC honors, including a First Team selection by midfielder Lukas Rietzler.
Lynn's first round opponent, Chowan University, earned an automatic bid after winning the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The Hawks are 8-1-4 in their last 13 contests and will be facing Lynn for the first time in school history.
The Fighting Knights will be making their 19th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2019. This is Lynn's 10th tournament appearance under head coach John Rootes in his 15th year at the helm. Rootes has guided Lynn to two National Championships (2012, 2014) as Lynn has collected three NCAA Championships and two NAIA National Championships in men's soccer program history.
