HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Lynn dominated possession for the rest of the half, taking the final seven shots (four on goal) of the frame
- The Fighting Knights continued to pepper the Chowan goalie to open the second half

- Goalkeeper Luca Clavero made a save in the 80th minute to keep the Lynn lead at 2-1
- Chowan tied the match in the 85th minute after Smith found space up close for his second goal
- In the final minutes of regulation, Patrick O'Halloran had a chance that was saved and Clavero made a save on the Hawks with just seconds left
- In the first overtime, Joao Assis Negrao put the only shot on goal seconds before the buzzer
- In the second overtime, Lambertz just missed a hat trick after heading a pass from Fabio Menzel over the net

POSTGAME QUOTES:
Head Coach John Rootes on the performance:
"Overall, given the conditions, I thought we played pretty well. I thought we created a lot of chances, a lot of possession, and we played some of the best soccer we've played all season. We didn't finish clinically but we played well. And in the second half, we played fantastic. We got the goal and then we gave one up. It was tough for us because we played an extra 20 minutes and it's going to weigh heavy on our legs for Saturday. It's unfortunate but I'm pleased that we got the result."

Max Lambertz on his goals and the win:
"It was definitely the two biggest goals of my college career. Today was special simply because of the conditions. The surface was so good but then you had all of the wind and the rain, so it was an unbelievable experience. I'm very glad that we made it to the next round."

UP NEXT:
- Lynn plays the second seed Florida Tech on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6:00 pm in Melbourne, Fla.
