BOCA RATON, Fla. – Graduate student
Emily Edwards surpassed 3,000 assists and nine student-athletes played their final game at the de Hoernle Sports Center, as the Lynn volleyball team defeated Eckerd, 3-1 on senior day, Saturday.
The game was the regular-season finale for both programs as the Fighting Knights close the season at 24-7 overall and 15-5 in the SSC, while the Tritons finish at 22-8 overall and 12-8 in the league.
Lynn now awaits Monday's NCAA Tournament selection show at 7:30 pm (NCAA.com) to find out what seed it will receive in the south region.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn took the match in four sets 28-26, 27-29, 25-16 and 25-19
- The Fighting Knights hit .270 behind 68 kills, while the Tritons managed just .138 with 50 kills
- The hosts also held advantages in assists (64-48) and digs (95-76)
- Lynn led 5-2 early in set one before the Tritons led by five at 13-8
- The hosts collected a 9-1 run for a 20-16 lead behind three kills from graduate
Samantha Wolf
- Eckerd battled back to tie things at 22, 25 and 26 but kills from Wolf and junior
Aline Olegario set the final at 28-26
- Eckerd controlled much of set two as a 4-0 scoring jolt gave it a 12-7 lead

- The visitors led 20-16, but Lynn rebounded to hold leads of 23-22 and 24-23
- Four late kills and a service ace handed Eckerd a 29-27 win
- The Tritons jumped to out a 9-8 cushion in the third set
- The Fighting Knights never trailed again and used runs of 6-1 and 5-1 for a 21-14 edge
- Kills from Olegario and Wolf gave Lynn a 25-16 win
- The Fighting Knights took control of the match with a 6-0 run in the third set for a 12-8 lead
- An 8-1 run extended the lead to 21-13 before Lynn closed with a 25-19 win
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- In the first set, Edwards reached the 3,000 assist plateau and finished the match with 57 assists (3,051)
- It was her fifth match with 50 or more assists and she added 14 digs
- Wolf finished with a double-double 23 kills and 15 digs
- It was her second-consecutive double-double and third in four matches
