FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Lynn University men's basketball team dropped its matchup on Wednesday evening, falling 99-74 to No. 1 Nova Southeastern. The Fighting Knights were led by a 17-point performance from sophomore Nordin Kapic in the Sunshine State Conference opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- NSU jumped out to a 14-2 lead within the first three minutes
- Kapic and sophomore Rickey Ballard went on a 5-0 run that lowered the deficit to 10 with 14 minutes remaining in the opening half
- Graduate Brad McCabe and junior Joshua Sasser hit back-to-back three-pointers
- Graduate Tradavis Thompson, Kapic and graduate Ben Gahlert contributed points while lowering the deficit back to 10, 31-21, with just under eight minutes left in the half
- Ballard scored the next four points for Lynn, but NSU gained momentum and opened its lead to 16 points
- Sasser and graduate Jamison Evans each put up three points on a 6-2 run for the Fighting Knights with two minutes left in the first half
- Sasser hit a pair of free throws before Lynn went into the halftime break trailing 51-33
- Gahlert and Ballard opened the scoring for the Fighting Knights in the second half
- Kapic (2), Ballard (2) and sophomore Jalen Gilmore (4) lowered Lynn's deficit to 58-45 on an 8-0 run with just over 16 minutes remaining in the game
- Thompson and Evans combined for Lynn's next 7 points, making it a 65-52 game
- Kapic scored 6 consecutive points and Gilmore made a layup with just over eight and a half minutes remaining
- The duo stayed hot, with Kapic making a three-pointer followed by four consecutive points from Gilmore
- Thompson made a layup, Evans made a three-pointer and Gahlert made a pair of free throws down the stretch, but Lynn would fall 99-74 in the SSC opener
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Kapic scored at least 15 points for the third time this season while adding a game-high 9 rebounds
- Ballard recorded a season-high 3 assists
- Sasser scored a season-high 8 points
