BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn women's basketball overcame a 10-point deficit in the third quarter, but a late run by Shaw squashed the Fighting Knights' comeback bid in a 59-56 loss during the Lynn Holiday Classic, Monday afternoon. Despite outscoring the Bears 37-31 in the second half, the Fighting Knights dropped to 5-4 overall this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Shaw jumped out to an 11-2 lead to open the game

Marianna Klavina four-point play followed by a
Rachel Romich three closed out the first quarter with a Lynn 7-0 run
- The Bears outscored the Fighting Knights 13-5 in the second quarter to take a 28-19 lead into the half
- In a defensive first half, Shaw shot just 1-for-13 on three-pointers while Lynn was 3-for-14 and each team had nine turnovers

Makayla Hemingway's three-pointer capped off a 9-1 Lynn run to bring the Fighting Knights within two, 32-30, with 5:40 remaining in the third quarter
- The Fighting Knights trailed by four entering the fourth quarter
- Lynn took a 40-39 lead after a Klavina layup with 7:26 left
- Hemingway's three-pointer gave Lynn its largest lead at 47-41 at the 6:20 mark
- Shaw regained the lead on a 7-0 run with less than three minutes left to play and led, 55-49, with one-minute remaining
- The Fighting Knights brought it to a one possession game and had the ball but were unable to get a shot off in the final seconds
