BOCA RATON, Fla. – Graduate students
Jada Marone and
Meghan Cramb each scored in double figures and Lynn University tied a season-high with 11 three-pointers in a 58-45 win over Rollins, Saturday afternoon. The victory is the fourth-straight for the Fighting Knights as they improve to 18-7 overall and 11-6 in the SSC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams raced out of the gate in the opening quarter combining for 41 points
- Lynn shot 50 percent from the field (9-of-18) in the first with six three-pointers
- The second quarter featured just 16 points as the Fighting Knights outscored the Tars 12-4 and held a 37-20 lead at halftime
- The game was tied at 16 late in the opening quarter when Lynn collected a 9-0 run to close the frame
- Sophomore
Makayla Hemingway started the run with a three-pointer at 1:45, while graduate
Loie Webb connected on a three that beat the first-quarter buzzer for a 25-16 lead
- Marone and sophomore
Danielle Montelbano hit back-to-back layups to give Lynn a 30-16 lead midway through the second quarter
- Cramb hit a three for a 33-18 lead at 3:30 and Marone closed the half with a three for the 37-20 lead
- Grace Alfieri hit a three-pointer for Rollins late in the third that pulled its deficit to within eight at 43-35
- The Tars further cut their deficit to six at the end of the third quarter, 44-36
- The Fighting Knights outscored Rollins 14-7 in the fourth for the victory
- Marone hit a three at 7:42 for a 51-40 lead and Lynn closed the game on a 7-0 run
- Rollins finished 7-of-32 (21.9%) from three-point range and made just 16-of-57 shot attempts (28.1%)
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Marone finished with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists
- Cramb made five baskets, all three-pointers with three rebounds
- Graduate student
Lucija Kostic led all players with 11 rebounds
