Ford collects 6 RBI in win against St. Thomas

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Junior Ryan Ford drove in six runs thanks to a three-run home run and bases clearing triple with the bases loaded as Lynn defeated St. Thomas, 9-7, Tuesday night. The Fighting Knights now have a 6-3-1 record this season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Sophomore pitcher Chase Wills tossed a scoreless first inning for the Fighting Knights 
- Junior pitcher Jared Terefenco struck out two Bobcats in the second inning to keep the game scoreless 
- St. Thomas took a 1-0 lead on a Joey Thompson single in the bottom of the third 
- Ford hit a three-run homer in the top of the fourth, scoring Shawn Dougherty and Peter Avino, to put Lynn ahead 3-1 
- Rey Hernandez hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game, 3-3 
- Junior John Rodriguez hit a three-run home run in the top of the fifth to double Lynn's run total and break the tie 
- The Bobcats scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it a one-run game, 6-5
- Ford hit a bases-loaded triple, scoring Deric LaMontagne, Pedro Martinez and John Rodriguez, in the top of the eighth inning to give the Fighting Knights a 9-5 lead 
- St. Thomas rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth but with two runners on and two outs, relief pitcher Tyler Romanias struck out the final batter for a 9-7 Fighting Knights win 

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- Ford extended his hitting streak to nine games while tallying his second homer and third triple of the season 
- Rodriguez hit his third home run of the season and is 6-for-11 with four runs and five RBI over his last three games 
- Martinez went 2-for-3 with a run scored, walk and hit by pitch, raising his season on-base percentage to .500 
- LaMontagne has hit safely in all five of his games this year and has a .522 OB% 
- Junior pitcher Drew Clark pitched a scoreless fifth inning to pick up the win 
- The Fighting Knights posted 10+ hits for the third straight game and sixth time in 2023 
- Lynn has 39 extra-base hits through ten games
