BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Lynn baseball team lost a four-run lead in the final innings of a 15-6 loss to Barry Friday night. AJ Orrico had three hits and was one of four Fighting Knights to record multiple hits in the loss. Lynn is now 11-11-1 overall this season and 2-5 in Sunshine State Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Orrico singled and later scored on Leon Paulino's single as part of a two run top of the first for Lynn
- Orrico drove home Shawn Dougherty with a single in the second inning to give the Fighting Knights a 3-1 lead
- Barry cut Lynn's lead to one run after Jake Ogden scored on a double steal in the bottom of the second inning
- Lynn scored three runs, with all baserunners reaching with two outs, in the top of the sixth inning to take a 6-2 advantage
- Yuzuki Okamura singled, stole second and scored on Ryan Ford's base hit
- John Rodriguez drove in Ford with a triple and scored on the play after a Barry error
- The Buccaneers responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning thanks to three consecutive hits
- Barry tied the game in the seventh on an RBI groundout and took their first lead on Ogden's three-run home run to make the score 9-6
- Barry walked four times, was hit by two pitches and hit three singles in a six-run eighth inning to secure a 15-6 win
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Orrico led Lynn with three hits and ranks second in the SSC with 36 hits this season
- David Judge hit his fifth double of the season and extended his hitting streak to seven games
- Paulino posted his fifth multi-hit game of 2023
- Okamura went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a single, raising his season average to .339
- Ford recorded both a run and an RBI in a game for the seventh time this season
- 11 of Rodriguez's 20 hits this season have gone for extra bases
