BOCA RATON, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to rally for a 9-6 win over Lynn University, Friday afternoon. The loss drops the Fighting Knights to 11-14-1 overall on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After PBA scored a run in the top of the second, Lynn tied the game on
Yuzuki Okamura's RBI single that plated
Deric LaMontagne
- The Sailfish took a 2-1 lead on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning
- Palm Beach Atlantic added three more runs for a 5-4 lead in the top of the fifth inning, highlighted by Pedro Figueroa's two-run double
- The Fighting Knights cut the deficit to one run after
Shawn Dougherty knocked in LaMontagne and
Byron Murray with a three-run home run
- Lynn took the lead in the bottom of the seventh with a two-out rally
- Okamura smacked a single to center that plated LaMontagne to tie the game and
Ryan Ford singled home Okamura for a 6-5 lead
- PBA recaptured the lead in the top of the eighth with four runs, highlighted by a two-run single from Figueroa
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- LaMontagne finished 2-for-3 with three runs and two walks
- Okamura was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored
- Ford finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk
- Doughtery finished 1-for-5 with a run and a three-run HR
