Lynn women lose at No. 5 Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. – The 11th-ranked Lynn University women's lacrosse team suffered a 21-10 defeat at No. 5 Florida Southern in the Sunshine State Conference opener for both teams, Saturday. Lynn settles at 9-3 overall on the season with the loss.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mallory Jarka gave Lynn the early 1-0 lead with the contest's first goal just 1:34 into action
- The Mocs rebounded by scoring the next 10 goals for a 10-1 lead with 11:51 showing in the second quarter
- Sophomore Kristyn Johnson scored three goals in the second quarter to help narrow the deficit to 12-5 at halftime
- Johnson's first goal came at 10:20, while her third closed the second quarter when she connected on a shot with 45 seconds left
- Freshman Becca Clark scored twice in the third quarter and junior Lauren Dickson tacked on one goal as Lynn trailed 17-8 after three quarters
- Junior Diane Dohler and senior Isabella Clark scored back-to-back goals in the fourth frame for the Fighting Knights at 7:50 and 5:46
- The Mocs added two late goals to set the final at 21-10
- Florida Southern outshot Lynn 39-18 and caused 10 Fighting Knight turnovers
- Lynn held a 19-15 edge in draw controls
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Johnson led the way with three goals and seven draw controls
- Dohler finished with two goals and one assist
- Clark scored twice, scooped up two ground balls, caused two turnovers and had four draw controls
- Graduate student Ciara Moorman made six saves while enduring the loss in goal

- Lynn returns to Bobby Campbell Stadium on Wednesday when it hosts No. 19 Saint Leo at 3:00 pm
