FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Fighting Knights lost both ends of a road doubleheader to Nova Southeastern, 2-3 and 2-4, Saturday afternoon.
Eliza Gonzalez posted her third consecutive multi-hit game in the first game and
Josey Sumpter hit her seventh home run of the season in game two.
Lynn is 21-28 overall and 9-18 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):

Morgan Simpson walked, stole second and scored on
Eliza Gonzalez's single in the top of the first inning
- NSU scored an unearned run to tie the game in the second inning
- A Sharks sac fly gave the home team a 2-1 lead through three innings

Taylor Scala walked and later scored on Gonzalez's second hit of the game in the fifth inning to tie game, 2-2
- After two two-out walks, Nova won the game on a single in the seventh inning for a 3-2 final
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):

Josey Sumpter hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning to start the scoring

Morgan Scala singled and later scored on an error to put the Fighting Knights up 2-0 in the second inning
- NSU scored on an unearned run in the fourth inning to cut Lynn's lead in half
- The Sharks led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo home run to tie the game, 2-2
- A double and two singles led to two more runs for the Sharks in the bottom of the sixth inning and a 4-2 final
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Gonzalez recorded her third straight multi-hit game in game one and is now hitting .320 this season
- Sumpter pitched 2.2 scoreless innings in game one and went 3-for-4 in game two
- Sumpter's seven home runs ranks third in the SSC
- Simpson stole her 35
th base of the season, which also ranks third in the SSC
- T. Scala walked twice and leads the team with 17 BB in 2023
