Women’s lacrosse drops season finale at No. 3 Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – Senior Isabella Clark scored two goals as the Lynn University women's lacrosse team had its 2023 season come to a close with a 19-5 defeat at No. 3 Tampa, Saturday. The Fighting Knights finish the season at 12-6 overall and ranked 16th in the nation.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Tampa outscored Lynn 14-2 in the first half and held a 5-3 scoring advantage over the final 30 minutes
- The Spartans outshot the Fighting Knights 33-21, held a 27-23 edge in ground balls and won 20-of-25 draw controls
- Clark scored first for Lynn with 6:38 showing in the first quarter that narrowed the Lynn deficit to 2-1
- Sophomore Kristyn Johnson was credited with an assist on Clark's goal
- Tampa rattled off 10-straight goals for a 12-1 lead with 5:53 left in the first half
- Freshman Hannah Exley scored off a feed from senior Danielle Farinas as Lynn made the score 12-2 at 3:50
- Tampa scored four more goals until freshman Elizabeth Clagett scored midway through the third quarter to pull the Fighting Knights to within 16-3
- Junior Lauren Dickson closed the third-quarter scoring with a goal that made the score 18-4
- The two schools exchanged fourth-quarter goals and Clark closed the afternoon with a late goal to set the final at 19-5
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Clark powered Lynn's offense with her two goals
- Clagett scored once and caused four turnovers
- Freshman Becca Clark and Johnson each had two draw controls
- Graduate student Ciara Moorman posted seven saves in the loss
