BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn softball team celebrated their 2023 Senior Day by honoring five student-athletes on Saturday.
Taylor Scala,
Morgan Scala,
Aymee Godmaire,
Adriana Otero and
Haley Weiss were all recognized for their contributions in the final game of the season.
The Fighting Knights faced a tough opponent in No. 1 Tampa, as they lost both games of their doubleheader, 7-1 and 5-2, to finish their season at 21-31 overall and 9-21 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- Tampa scored two runs in both the first and second innings to take a quick 4-0 lead
- The Spartans scored their final three runs in the fourth and fifth innings on sacrifice flies

Taylor Scala hit back-to-back singles with one out in the bottom of the fifth
- M. Scala later scored on
Aryana Galioto's RBI single
- The Fighting Knights reached base via walk in the sixth and seventh innings but were unable to score for a 7-1 final
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 1):

Taylor Scala reached base in all three of her plate appearances (one single, two walks)
- T. Scala stole her 29
th base of the season, finishing her Lynn career with 46 steals
- Galioto's 21
st hit of the season raised her average to .259
- M. Scala went 1-for-3 with a run scored for the second time in her last three games

Faith Miller pitched 2.1 innings without allowing an earned run as she finished her season with a 2.77 ERA
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Tampa took the lead in the first inning on Mariah Galhouse's two-run double
- The Spartans led 4-0 after Camryn Wineinger's two-run home run in the third inning
- Lynn cut the lead in half with two runs in the bottom of the third

Destiny Torres led off the inning with a walk,
Taylor Scala and
Morgan Simpson hit back-to-back singles and
Adriana Otero hit a single to drive in Torres and T. Scala
- Tampa scored the final run of the game on a sac fly in the fifth inning for a 5-2 final in favor of the visitors
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS (Game 2):
- Simpson stole her school-record 37
th base of the season
- Otero posted her second multi-RBI game of the season
- T. Scala reached base twice and in all five of her plate appearances over the doubleheader to raise her season OB% to .375
- T. Scala also scored her team-leading 30
th run of the season
