Aline Olegario combined for 19 kills and a .474 hitting percentage to help power Lynn University to a 3-0 shutout over Edward Waters in the home opener for the Fighting Knights, Friday afternoon.
Lynn improves to 3-2 with the win and returns to the court this evening with Rockhurst in the opening match of the Hyatt Place Bash at the Beach at Palm Beach Atlantic/Lynn.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lynn hit .270 and led the Tigers in kills (39-17), digs (56-46), assists (36-15), blocks (8-3) and aces (6-2)
- The Fighting Knights used early scoring surges in all three sets for the match victory
- Olegario smacked two kills to kickstart a 7-0 run in the opening set that handed the hosts a 10-3 lead
- Lynn closed the first set with a 9-2 jolt that was capped by a kill and two blocks from graduate
Shannon Burgess
- Lynn jumped out to a 6-0 lead in set two and later used a 10-1 scoring edge for a 20-4 lead
- Two late kills from freshman
Fabia Gonzalez Stanton and junior
Peyton Gash sealed the 25-7 victory
- Lynn used a 7-0 scoring spurt in the third set for an 8-2 lead
- Chara had three kills to help the Fighting Knights to a 17-7 lead
- Olegario added four more kills in the third set to seal the 25-16 win
